Indications for Endotracheal Intubation Prior to Transport

  • Respiratory arrest or failure
  • Actual or potential airway obstruction
  • Glasgow Coma Scale of 8 or less
  • Need for hyperventilation (e.g., severe traumatic brain injury)
  • Intrathoracic or other severe (multiple) injuries
  • Decompensated shock
