- Reduce pain by numbing a targeted area of the body with local anesthetics
- Single shot, or ongoing infusion of local anesthetic via a peripheral nerve or neuraxial catheter
- Commonly used medications: bupivacaine or ropivacaine
- Many children will need sedation for placement of the nerve block
