Epidural Hematoma

• Middle meningeal artery is torn (often by fractured skull)
• Blood accumulates between the skull and dura
• Smooth convex inner edge
• Lucid interval of several hours between injury & developing neurological signs
• Often is a true neurosurgical emergency
