Cervical Collar for C-spine Immobilization

Appropriately sized cervical collar should enable:

  • Chin to fit snugly in the collar without posterior displacement of mandible (that may lead to airway obstruction)
  • Lower portion of collar to rest snugly around the chest and clavicles

Alternatively, a towel roll or IV fluid bags placed on both sides of the head may be used for small children and infants
