Cervical Spine Management

• Spine should be immobilized until "clear" by both clinical and radiographic examinations
• High-risk groups for cervical spinal injury are:
  • High energy impact - MVC, ski, snowboard injuries
  • Patients with head, neck, torso injuries
  • Diving injuries
  • Falls from a distance greater than patient's height
  • Rapid acceleration or deceleration injuries
