Oropharyngeal Airway Insertion

  • Choose the correct size by keeping the flange at the level of incisors and distal end at the angle of the mandible
  • Use a tongue depressor and gently slide the airway with the curve facing downward
  • Flange should rest against child's lips
  • Alternatively, insert gently with the tip pointing upward, then rotate the airway 180o and slide into place
