In pediatric trauma victims, indications for RSI include:
- Unable to maintain airway patency
- GCS < 8 who cannot protect airway against aspiration
- Inadequate oxygenation despite supplemental oxygen
- Greatly increased work of breathing or signs of fatigue
- Altered respiratory dynamics causing compromise e.g., flail chest
