Intraosseous (IO) Needle Placement

  • Used for temporary vascular access in pediatric trauma victims of all ages
  • Used to deliver fluid, drugs, blood products and for blood sampling
  • Most common site is proximal tibia, 1-2 cm below and medial to the tibial tuberosity
